DELL WORLD, AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 202015 – Dell today announced a series of new big data and analytics solutions and services designed to help companies quickly and securely turn data into insights for better, faster decision-making. These include a new release of Dell’s advanced analytics softwareplatform and new Analytics-as-a -Service offerings for multiple industry verticals such as banking, healthcare and insuranceTogether, these new offerings and capabilities enable companies to embed analytics across their core processes and disseminate analytics expertise across the organization to drive better business outcomes.

Data-driven decision-making is the pathway to competitive advantage in the modern data economy. The Dell Global Technology Adoption Index 2015 (GTAI 2015) revealed that those organizations robustly using big data show 50 percent higher growth rates than organizations that aren’t.  However, the study also found that 44 percent of organizations still don’t understand how to extract value from their datai. With the latest enhancements to its big data and analytics portfolio, Dell is helping customers overcome that uncertainty and invest wisely in data technologies by delivering flexible, end-to-end solutions that help organizations foster IT and business alignment, drive operational efficiency, and leverage the power of predictive analytics.

Launch of Statistica 13 Further Simplifies Deployment of Advanced Analytics Across the Enterprise

The launch of Statistica 13, the latest release of the company’s popular advanced analytics software platform, helps simplify and improve the process by which organizations deploy predictive models directly to data sources inside the firewall, in the cloud, and in partner ecosystems. An easy-to-use solution that requires no coding and integrates seamlessly with open source R, Dell Statistica delivers a full range of data blending, data discovery, and advanced and predictive analytics tools that help organizations tap into all data to predict future trends, identify new customers and sales opportunities, explore “what-if” scenarios, and reduce the occurrence of fraud and other business risks. Enhancements and new capabilities in Statistica 13 include:

• A completely revamped and modernized GUI for greater ease-of-use and visual appeal
• Deeper integration with the recently added Statistica Interactive Visualization and Dashboard engine for more effective communication to data consumers
• Tighter integration with open source R for easier sharing and control of R scripts

NDA functionality pushes predictive algorithm model-buildingand scoring functionality directly into the data source. This eliminates the time-consuming and datalimiting process of pulling data to an intermediate server or desktop, allowing all analytic processing to occur directly in the database and enabling organizations to leverage the power of Hadoop clusters, database appliances and other high-performance platforms. Statistica 13 will initially feature NDA capability for Microsoft SQL Server databases, with additional databases to be added in subsequent releases.

Dell Services Continues to Strengthen IP-led Service Offerings in Advanced Analytics and Data Science

Dell Services is expanding its Analytics-as-a-Service offerings with industry-specific services that help customers unearth insights, predict business outcomes, and improve the accuracy and efficiency of critical business processes.  For example, new BPO services help embed analytics across an organization’s core processes and disseminate analytics expertise to give scalability to data-based decision making. The new services include:

• Fraud, Waste and Abuse Management:  Helps organizations identify cases of medical identity theft, unnecessary diagnostic services or medically unnecessary services and incorrect billing
• Denial Likelihood Scoring and Predictive Analytics: Helps organizations proactively identify which claims are most likely to be denied, and provide at-a-glance activity data on each account, detailed monitoring and follow-up, in the process helping eliminate up to 40 percent of low- or no-value follow-up work
• Churn Management/Customer Retention ServicesHelps organizations leverage predictive churn modelling – the processing and correlation of new social data sources with traditional data sources – to identify customers they are at risk of losing, and proactively take preventative measures

In addition, emphasizing Dell’s continued focus on enabling Analytics-as-a-Service solutions, the Dell Services team has introduced Dell Service Desk Analytics and Dell ModelHealth(DMH) Tracker.

• Dell Service Desk Analytics transforms IT service desk management by enabling predictive error management and automation. It creates early warning alerts and text analytics to improve the end-user experience and reduce business disruption.
• Dell ModelHealth Tracker helps customers track andmonitor the effectiveness of their various scorecard or predictive analytics models. Particularly in industries with compliance requirements, including banking and insurance, companies use scorecards or other predictive models to predict critical outcomessuch as a customer’s creditworthiness or the likelihood of an insurance claim being fraudulent. DMH plugs into multiple data sources to track, archive and manage these models, and more importantly, monitor them for effectiveness and compliance.

These new offerings join the more than 50 solutions from Dell Services in the area of advanced analytics, including healthcare analytics offerings focused on critical issues like population health, patient readmission, and health risk stratification; financial analytics offerings focused on online transactions and fraud detection; and insurance-focused offerings centered on reducing customer churn via analytics embedded within Lifesys, Dell’s platform for insurance claims processing.

End-to-End Portfolio Simplifies Deployment and Allows Customers to Achieve Insights Faster

In addition to software and services, Dell has a history of offering engineered solutions and reference architectures that speed deployment times and time to value. These solutions are tested and validated to relieve customer pain points associated with deployment of effective data management techniquesMost recently, Dell announced its 15th reference architecture in collaboration with Cloudera, this time also including SyncsortDMX-h software. The Dell | Cloudera | Syncsort Data Warehouse Optimization – ETL Offload Reference Architecturestreamlines the planning, design, construction and deployment process of transforming data into a ready state for analysis, also known as the extract, transform and load (ETL) process, using the Hadoop data platform. The reference architecture offers customers cost savings, faster time-to-value and quicker access to insights than an open-source, do-it-yourself solution.

In addition, Dell’s ProDeploy Enterprise Suite offers customers a complete suite of deployment services and professional certifications designed to simplify deployments and help customers rapidly adopt new technology with confidence.

Dell World Day One Press Releases

Dell Outpaces Competitors with End‐to‐End Solutions Growth

Dell was the No. 1 storage supplier in the first half of 2014 based on total terabytes sold for internal and external storage, according to industry analyst firm International Data Corporation (IDC) data.

Dell maintained its No. 2 share position in the global x86 server market and retained the No. 1 share position in APJ as well, according to IDC data. Also, for the second straight quarter, Dell was the only major vendor to generate year‐over‐year growth in both rack and blade servers according to IDC data.

Dell Software registered double‐digit revenue growth as the company continues to build out its global software business, with strength in security and information‐management areas, including data analytics and enterprise application integration. Since the addition of software to the Dell PartnerDirect program a year ago, Dell Software’s channel‐related revenue also experienced double‐digit growth

Dell’s momentum in its client solutions (PC) business continued during the third calendar quarter of 2014 as it registered its seventh consecutive quarter of year‐over‐year (YoY) gains in global share and grew more in the third quarter than its top two U.S. competitors combined, based on preliminary data recently released by IDC. Based on this data, Dell’s U.S. PC share is now 24 percent, a 3.1 percentage‐point YoY increase, and worldwide Dell grew its PC shipments during the quarter by nearly 10 percent YoY.

Dell is ranked No. 1 by Gartner in Worldwide IT Services for Healthcare Providers, based on 2013 revenue.

With reported significant expansion in market share, Dell Services qualified as a Major Contender in the Everest Group Banking IT Outsourcing PEAK MatrixTM report, continuing to ramp up financial services capabilities, invest in innovative technologies, form alliances, and acquire strategic targets to address the growing and complex technology needs of banks and financial institutions.

Dell Expands Global Footprint of Solution Centers for Enterprise Customers

Dell announced today its expansion plans to open a new solution center in downtown Chicago, Illinois, in early calendar year 2015. With new centers in Dubai, UAE and Sao Paulo, Brazil already opened earlier in the year, the new Chicago investment will give the company a total of 15 centers worldwide for enterprise customers and partners to easily test and evaluate broader end‐to‐end solutions and services.

Since opening its first center in Limerick, Ireland, in 2011, Dell has completed nearly 20,000 enterprise customer and partner engagements, influencing more than $4B in commercial sales. Each center’s pace of business worldwide is accelerating; in the past 18 months alone, Dell’s solution centers have hosted more than 11,000 customer and partner engagements.

Customers using Dell’s solution centers range from large enterprise and public sector organizations, to small and midmarket companies as well as Dell’s channel partners.

The centers play a critical role in enabling customers and partners to explore, develop and test the solutions and technologies that best meet their unique IT requirements, helping them to drive improved business outcomes and competitive advantage.

A key capability that sets Dell apart is its dedicated network, which allows any center in the world to connect with the others, giving customers and partners the true power of a global network to test their applications worldwide by leveraging Dell’s networked infrastructure.

Dell Pushes Disruptive Innovation to Record‐Breaking Performance Heights with Dell Research

Dell Research has developed a proof‐of‐concept solution called High Velocity Cloud that can, according to Dell’s analysis, support all the mobile device traffic in a medium‐size city, such as Austin, with only one quarter of a rack of Dell server and networking equipment.

The High Velocity Cloud optimizes standard servers for high‐performance packet processing, and enables a 20x improvement in the capability of virtualized standard servers to handle network intensive functions.

With partners, Dell Research recently set a performance record by demonstrating that, with High Velocity Cloud, a virtualized standard Dell R920 server with standard network adapters and no special hardware can be the infrastructure for a system capable of supporting 214 Gb/s of bandwidth while still leaving 90 percent of the server CPU free for running network intensive workloads.

The magnitude of disruption and innovation High Velocity Cloud can bring is exponential. For example, a service that once might have taken months to roll out could now be rolled out in minutes. This opens tremendous opportunities and will push organizations to completely rethink business models, resource allocations and product lines.

Dell Services

I wonder how Dell’s new Services system will sit with Partners? While customers may look to Dell as an answer to implementing projects, what do Dell Partners think about selling Dell Services or competing with Dell Services. Is there enough of a margin for Resellers to sell this to their customers?

Also what assurances does Dell Services provide to protect the Reseller-Customer relationship and not take these relationships in house?

Thoughts?

I’ve been busy

Sorry for not posting a bit more often.  I am more often found on Twitter and or using some SocialCast.  Here lately the time has been spent with a new job and working on my Cisco DCUCI exam and getting my Cisco CCNA Data Center.

I still have plans to do my VCDX Data Center Virtualization but it will likely be for VMworld 2014.

I’m in the process of moving which has blown my plans for a defense at PEX 2014.

I’ll have another post later this morning as I am at Dell World this week and have some interesting announcements.
